The Impro Lab is the Impro Theatre School’s premiere performance ensemble. The LAB performs shows that are inspired by the genres from Impro’s Main Company repertoire along with new genres selected by school’s directors. LAB is a five-month class that culminates in a run of shows at the Impro Studio space in Los Feliz. There are currently two sections of LAB students: one section is rehearsing Twilight Zone and the other, Chekhov. Performances will begin in May 2017. Students in the Impro School Conservatory start by taking Tennessee Williams and Romantic Comedy and then move into the Improvising Plays & Films class where they work on their individual skill sets until they are placed in a 5-month long LAB, focusing on a specific genre with a run of performances.
Impro Lab’s past performances include Film Noir Improvised, Jane Austen Improvised, Passion Noir Improvised, Quirky English Comedy, RomCom, William Inge Unhinged, and Hope Falls, the improvised soap opera.
LAB students are also encouraged to develop Impro Studio Presents (ISP) shows. Past ISP shows directed by LAB students in conjunction with Main Company Members include The Improvised Generation, Game of Falls, X-Files UnClassified, and Nancy Drew UnSolved.
