August Wilson was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright whose monumental body of work explores the African-American experience in the 20th century. His timeless plays tell comic and tragic stories of steadfast familial bonds, irrevocable betrayals, triumphant joys, righteous rage, and so much more. In “August Wilson in August,” Impro Theatre and Collaborative Artists Bloc join forces to delve into the writer’s lasting artistic legacy. Starting with audience suggestions, the ensemble will perform a completely improvised one-act play inspired by Wilson’s work in a production fusing Impro Theatre’s narrative improvisation expertise with Collaborative Artists Bloc’s dynamic theatricality that explores cultural identity and social change.
