Jully Lee is an actor, director and improvisor and is involved in a number of organizations which focus on promoting diversity through education and performance.
She is the artistic director of Cold Tofu, a non-profit performing arts organization and the nation’s first and longest running Asian American comedy group founded in 1981 where she performs and teaches regularly. She is also a founding board member of a new theatre-for-young-audiences production company, In Other People’s Shoes. Jully is a resident director at Playground-LA and has directed short plays, readings and workshops with Center Theatre Group in their Library Readings Series, East West Players’ David Henry Hwang Writer’s Institute, Playground-SF, Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA, The Song Collective (NY), Playwrights’ Arena, Artists At Play, Company of Angels, hereandnow theatre ensemble, The Blank Theatre, The Road Theatre, Moving Arts, Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative, Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights, and LA School of Music and Art.
As an actor, her stage credits include the first national tour of Joy Luck Club, the world premiers of tokyo fish story (South Coast Repertory), Ladies (Boston Court), Tales of Clamor (JACCC’s Aratani Theatre), and Mexican Day (Rogue Machine Theatre). Jully was also recently nominated for the 2020 Ovation Award for Best Featured Actress for Hannah and the Dread Gazebo at The Fountain Theatre/East West Players. Recent TV credits include recurring roles on The Kicks (Amazon), Gang Related (Fox), and guest appearances on S.W.A.T., Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, I Think You Should Leave, Jane the Virgin, Veep, This Is Us, Henry Danger, Rosewood and The Kominsky Method.
