In June, we issued an open letter committing to make anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion a top priority for our organization. In pursuit of this commitment, we are excited to have engaged the services of Patti Digh and Victor Lee Lewis, expert educators and coaches in social and racial justice.
“We will help you to tune your inward curiosity to questions that will help you think smarter
and deeper about diversity, inclusion and social justice, not just in policy or rhetoric, but in
spontaneous activity as a part of a new more responsive culture.” - Patti and Victor
Patti and Victor will begin by facilitating two events with the Impro students and community. On October 18th, they hosted a screening of the film “The Color of Fear” which was followed by a moderated discussion on racial equity and justice. Then on October 25th there will be a town hall meeting for the community. All are encouraged to attend either or both events. The screening is an opportunity to start the discussion and help us forge a framework of community involvement in our ongoing pursuit towards a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.
“In service to developing a culturally-responsive community learning environment, we
will work to develop a stance of cultural humility and intercultural resilience, which
benefits more from curiosity than knowledge.“ - Patti and Victor
TOWN HALL INFORMATION
Sunday, October 25, 5-8PM PDT on Zoom (link below)
Facilitated by Patti Digh and Victor Lee Lewis
The town hall is an opportunity for community members to share their experiences, ideas, concerns, and stories around diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) and to give agency to those who have wanted to express ideas or concerns but didn’t have the opportunity or access. The intent of the town hall is to not only give the community an opportunity to share whatever is on their minds in the areas of DE&I but to also work with Patti and Victor to turn this experience into a set of actions that can improve and enrich DE&I in the Impro Theatre organization and community.
The town hall will be recorded and released to the Impro community, anyone in attendance will be given an opportunity to turn off their camera and remove their name if they do not wish to be recorded.
